Octopus Baits is a family-run business built by two brothers, Chris and Jon, who’ve been hooked on fishing since Dad first took them down to the water at just two years old. Growing up, every family holiday was spent chasing carp across the country, fishing new lakes, and learning the ropes firsthand. For them, fishing wasn’t just a pastime—it was everything.

Chris started match fishing early, competing in adult matches and winning sections from the age of 12. Jon, meanwhile, was all about the big carp, targeting the hard-to-get, special ones from the local waters. Although their styles were different, they shared one thing: a relentless passion for making bait that really works.

From a young age, they were always rolling boilies and mixing liquids, constantly testing new ideas. At 16, Chris started moving into carp fishing properly, and by 18, he had fully switched his focus to chasing the big carp. That’s when the bait obsession really kicked in. Chris threw himself into learning everything about how carp detect food—reading biology books, tuning into scientific podcasts, and piecing together how to make bait that carp just can’t ignore.

Jon was out on the bank putting those ideas to the test—catching the named fish and putting many others to shame while they sat and watched, wondering what he was using. As word got around, mates and locals started asking, “What bait are you using?” So the brothers began rolling for friends and local anglers, quietly honing their recipes over the years.

Eventually, they decided it was time to turn their passion into something bigger—Octopus Baits was born. Since launching the website, the brand has grown fast, but the core belief hasn’t changed: it’s not about chucking in tons of bait; it’s about layering the right ingredients, flavours, and signals that carp can’t resist.
